Why choose a poodle as a dog?

Before choosing a poodle I did a lot of research!

Poodles are a fantastic breed and make for an ideal first time dog. They are great in a family environment, good with children, but also make excellent companions.

Poodles are very loyal and friendly, though they can be a bit stand-offish to strangers until they get to know them.

Poodles are an intelligent breed and can easily understand and follow instructions. They are also very intuitive and will know what you are going to do before you do it.

When Peggy was a pup she would know when I was going to get up to move before I did, it felt as though she was a mind-reader.

Poodles are an active breed and will need walking a couple of times a day, as well as significant periods of playtime. They are fun and entertaining.

There are three breeds of pure poodles which are miniature, like Peggy, as well as standard and toy. They all have similar traits.

Something that you need to consider about poodles is that they will need grooming. Their fur is hypoallergenic which can help with dog allergies.

Their fur is low-shedding, but it will need regular grooming to prevent it from becoming matted. To avoid matting you can brush or comb your poodle every day and wash regularly.

When it comes to going to the groomers, we take Peggy every three months as we get her hair cut short. Though your visits may be more frequent depending on the cut and style you choose.

All in all, poodles are a brilliant dog and family member.
