Peggy’s Post: Does your poodle move their food?

Does your poodle choose to eat from places other than their bowl?

Peggy eats complete dried food, we refer to it as real meaty chunks.

For as long as I can remember Peggy has opted to mainly eat her food away from her bowl.

This involves her getting a mouthful of food, or a real meaty chunk, and taking it somewhere else in the house, where she may eat it straight away or save it for later.

If one of my cats comes near the abandoned chunk, Peggy will guard it with her life.

Peggy regularly will leave food by the bed, which I wake up to in the morning.

She will go downstairs in the night to collect chunks of her food, and at times this has even been enough for each member of the family – as though she had counted one out for each of us.

We’ve wondered if she is giving us a present by sharing her food?

This also seems to be part of her ritual of going downstairs to her bowl for a midnight feast.

I’ve never had a dog that has done this before, does your poodle do this too?
